The Salt Spring Island Climate Action Council was established in May 2010 to coordinate the development and implementation of a Climate Action Plan for Salt Spring Island.
In 2011 the Council incorporated as a BC not-for-profit society. Membership in the Council is open to any islander with a particular knowledge and experience in climate change issues and to representatives of island organizations which have demonstrated a commitment to climate action.
Current membership includes representatives of the following organizations:

Institute for Sustainability, Education and Action Island Pathways
Salt Spring Island Agricultural Alliance Salt Spring Community Energy Group
Salt Spring Island Transportation Commission
Salt Spring Island Water Council
Salt Spring Island Conservancy
Elected representatives from CRD and Islands Trust participate as observers.
